The Picture of Christmas

My sweet mama never lost the childlike wonder of Christmas & holiday excitement. She had a contagious spirit about her that made Christmas what I knew it to be … big, bright, exciting & full of love & laughter.

When she passed away in 2022, she took with her pieces of our hearts & I often find myself defining life “before & after” her death.

While we miss her terribly, I’m thankful this season that we do not grieve without HOPE! The birth of Jesus was the entrance of hope to a  world otherwise filled with sin & sorrow.

Because of God’s gift of Jesus’ birth, Christmas became the definition of life “before & after”. The Messiah’s birth was prophesy & promise fulfilled. He was & is the beginning of HOPE & the peace that surpasses any circumstance we face.

I’m thankful for the picture of Christmas my mom gave me. Her excitement of putting out a little nativity each year pointed me to Jesus & what this season is all about. She’s celebrating in the presence of her Savior & my mind can hardly fathom that gift.

Hebrews 6:19a says, “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.” You, my friend, have a sure & steady anchor in Jesus as your Savior. It is an everyday gift.

May your season be wonderfully blessed. Grateful for you -
